Foliage: Leaves simple, 6 - 12” long, 2 - 4” wide, leathery, with prominent veins. Dark green above, rusty-tomentose below.

Flowers: Flower buds covered in orange fur open to clusters of white, very fragrant flowers. Blooms in winter

Features: Bold leathery leaves are dramatic - a tropical looking tree, that will not get too large

Growing conditions: Full sun, rich to average soil. Accepts alkaline soil. Drought tolerant. Summer water will increase growth rate

Climate zone: 7+.

Uses and comments: Here in the Pacific NW fruit will be rare - following a mild winter. A quite desirable plant visually at close range.
