Foliage: Leaves elliptical, 3-5” long, leathery, semi glossy, dark green.

Flowers: In spring. small, yellowish, inconspicuous, but still noticable

Features; A shrub to a small tree. Elegant leathery leaves. Accepts trimming and shaping.

Growing conditions: Prefers sun in coastal climates. Low water requirements. Tolerates heavy soil as long as it drains well.

Climate zone: Zone 8 - 11. OK down to 10-15 degrees

Uses and comments: This is the culinary Bay Tree This plant is dioecious - separate male and female plants. Deer like it, but if not fenced it can be protected until it gets above deer height.
